Pop and punk earn a new sound
It takes a lot of work to succeed in the music business, and Every Avenue proves it has what it takes with its first full-length album.
Starting as a local band in Marysville, Michigan, Every Avenue released a record the first year the band formed. They did so without the backing of a record company. Then, in the summer of 2007, Fearless Records recognized the band’s talent and signed them on. Under the new label, the band began production on “AH!,” their debut EP title, as well as their first full-length album.
On Feb. 19, Every Avenue released its debut album titled “Shh. Just Go With It,” which has a pop/punk sound.
Singer David Strauchman has high hopes for the band, including a US tour, music videos and high record sales.
“Personally I love every song on there I am really proud of every song on the album,” Strauchman said.
“This One’s a Cheap Shot” is a song that defines Every Avenue’s rise to fame; its lyrics prove to be a meaningful song that tells fans that it was not easy to get to where the band is today.
Some of the lyrics such as, “When did we think that this would be easy? We must have been out of our minds, We were holding so tight it just slipped through our fingers but we won’t let go” allow listeners to see how much the band has been through just to make music.
Every Avenue’s sense of diversity in its sound shows throughout every song.
“I think we have our own sound,” Strauchman said. “Everything influences us, every music, everything we have ever heard. Everyone in the band has different musical interests and different tastes and like different bands that all influence our sound.”
When asked what he enjoyed most about music, the vocalist claimed he enjoyed touring the most.
“Our favorite part about touring is just playing live every night and being in different places everyday. I am with five of my best friends, they’re like my family on the road,” Strauchman said. “Five guys who have the same goal in life as me..it’s awesome.”
