New cycling film premieres at CU
Filmmaker Scott Coady will be premiering his new film about the 2005 Tour de France on the CU campus Wednesday.
Tour Baby Deux! is a behind-the-scenes look at the 2005 Tour de France and Lance Armstrong’s final victory.
“Scott lives every cycling fan’s dream by following the entire 2005 Tour de France from start to finish, filming all the craziness in this hilarious and intimate look at the Tour,” Abby Carroll stated in a press release for the film.
The press release also described the unique footage used in the film: “From mountain-stop madness in the Pyrenees to partying with Podium Girls in Paris, the film takes the viewer on a wild ride and behind the scenes with Americans Lance Armstrong, George Hincapie, ‘Fast Freddie’ Rodriguez, Chris Horner and many more.”
The screening, hosted by CU Cycling, will kick off Coady’s 19-day “Collegiate Tour Baby” fundraiser. The tour will finish in Palo Alto, Calif., for the start of the Tour of California international bike race.
Along film screenings, the tour also fundraises for the Davis Phinney Foundation, which benefits Parkinson’s disease, as well as USA Cycling’s collegiate cycling programs. There will also be a silent auction and raffle.
The premiere will open at 6 p.m., with the film beginning at 7 p.m., Wednesday, in Macky Auditorium. Admission is $20 for general seating and $50 for VIP seating.
