Here’s the Campus Press pick ’em for the week:
Stirling Wade – Sports Editor – Overall: 38-34, Last Week: 5-3
(12) Michigan 30, Wisconsin 21 – Michigan has been playing very good football as of late, which should help the Wolverine faithful forget the early-season loss to Appalachian State…OK, maybe not.
Wake Forest 17, (21) Clemson 20 – This is right at the time of year where Clemson normally begins its late-season slide. I think Margot will know that, so I’m picking Clemson because I’m running out of time.
Arkansas 16, (24) Tennessee 17 – This will go down to the wire. These are two SEC teams that are nice squads but not nearly good enough to do too much in the always brutal SEC.
(18) Auburn 21, (10) Georgia 27 – Another brutal pick in the country’s toughest conference. I wish I could say something here that would make me sound smart and explain why I knew Georgia is going to win. I can’t.
Florida State 14, (11) Virginia Tech 24 – Drew Weatherford is going to go back to being the disappointing QB for the ‘Noles that he always has been.
(17) USC 23, Cal 26 – Cal has really disappointed me as of late. I think Margot is going to pick USC…see above.
(19) Virginia 10, Miami (Fl) 13 – Al Groh has always disappointed for the Cavaliers given the recruiting classes he’s hauled in – the disappointment begins now for this season.
Colorado 17, Iowa State 14 – The defense comes up big late and saves the offense on another bad day.
Derek Schimmel – Sports Writer – Overall: 38-34, Last Week: 5-3
(12) Michigan 35, Wisconsin 21 – Mike Hart should be healthy for a tough road game in Madison.
Wake Forest 14, (21) Clemson 28 – Wake Forest doesn’t have the firepower to take down the Tigers in Death Valley.
Arkansas 31, (24) Tennessee 17 – Darren McFadden is coming off a 300+ yard rushing performance. He’ll go for 200+ against the Volunteers and enter back into the Heisman Trophy race.
(18) Auburn 17, (10) Georgia 31 – Coach Mark Richt seemed to light a fire under his team after that show against Florida. After beating an underrated Troy team, the Dawgs will take down Auburn.
Florida State 14, (11) Virginia Tech 24 – FSU beat BC in a hurricane. In fair weather, VT is too good.
(17) USC 31, Cal 21 – Cal has been on a downward slide. USC is coming off a tough loss. Doesn’t bode well for the Golden Bears.
(19) Virginia 10, Miami (Fl) 21 – Virginia has been playing some good ball. Miami still has a year or two to get back to greatness.
Colorado 38, Iowa State 3 – Hawkins will get his bunch on track, and the defense will have something to prove after the debacle last week.
Margot Schneider – Sports Writer – Overall: 43-29, Last Week: 7-1
(12) Michigan 27, Wisconsin 20 – Have fun this Saturday because I expect you to destroy Ohio State next weekend.
Wake Forest 20, (21) Clemson 17 – Despite losing to Nebraska at the beginning of the season, they’ll get the win Broncos style – last-second field goal.
Arkansas 14, (24) Tennessee 21 – Doesn’t matter how many yards you run on Florida International (61). No Heisman Trophy for you. Runner-up two years in a row, but come back next year and try again!
(18) Auburn 14, (10) Georgia 17 – Georgia is going to win because they have a little streak going and Knowshon Moreno (if he plays – come on Mark, let him play). Plus, Auburn is getting nervous about what this game means for their season.
Florida State 17, (11) Virginia Tech 14 – Did you see Florida State beat Boston College? Amazing.
(17) USC 31, Cal 24 – Stirling was right. Cal is disappointing, and I am going to pick USC.
(19) Virginia 17, Miami (Fl) 20 – It’s the last game at the Orange Bowl. Sad! Oh, and Hokies, you can’t win every game by a point. You’ll lose this one by three.
Colorado 24, Iowa State 10 – Should CU be scared of 2-8 Iowa State? In one word: yes. Get your act together boys.
Amanda Walck – Sports Writer – Overall: 32-39, Last Week: 4-4
(12) Michigan 35, Wisconsin 27 – I agree with Margot. The Wolverines should make this game look easy while they get ready to take on the Buckeyes next week.
Wake Forest 24, (21) Clemson 21 – Last week’s game against Virginia was really disappointing for the Demon Deacons, so they should be more than ready for an upset.
Arkansas 17, (24) Tennessee 24 – I’ll take Tennessee at home, but it will definitely be a good one.
(18) Auburn 21, (10) Georgia 24 – I think Georgia has a serious chance to take the SEC this year if they continue to play well.
Florida State 21, (11) Virginia Tech 28 – So what if FSU was able to knock off Boston College? I’m still going to take the Hokies.
(17) USC 17, Cal 21 – Who isn’t disappointed with Cal right now?
(19) Virginia 10, Miami (Fl) 13 – Virginia got lucky last week, and I don’t think they’re going to be able to pull off another one-pointer.
Colorado 28, Iowa State 24 – Iowa State beat Kansas State 31-20. Seriously? The last thing the Buffs need right now is to be upset as well.
Brad Cochi – Sports Writer – Overall: 40-32, Last Week: 7-1
(12) Michigan 27, Wisconsin 24 – Wisconsin will threaten Michigan early, but the Wolverines will prevail in the end.
Wake Forest 20, (21) Clemson 21 – Clemson wins this close one.
Arkansas 28, (24) Tennessee 17 – Darren McFadden puts Arkansas on his back and leads them to a victory.
(18) Auburn 17, (10) Georgia 24 – Georgia has won three in a row, and the team continues it’s upward trend this week.
Florida State 13, (11) Virginia Tech 21 – Florida State looked good in last week’s win, but they didn’t look like themselves. We should see the real Florida State in this one.
(17) USC 27, Cal 31 – The funny thing about this match-up this season is how little most people care. But since we’re keeping score, I’ll take Cal.
(19) Virginia 14, Miami (Fl) 20 – I just don’t ever trust Miami to lie down and take a loss, especially at home.
Colorado 27, Iowa State 10 – After the destruction of last week, the Buffaloes owe it to themselves to come out and really show what they can do.
