Students to evaluate student fees associated with centers
Last Thursday night the UCSU Legislative Council passed a bill to form an ad hoc committee to compose a survey of students concerning cost centers – such as the UMC, the Rec Center and Wardenburg – and the level of student fees associated with these cost centers.
Graduate School Senator Erik Bondurant authored the Student Survey Committee Bill. Bondurant is concerned that UCSU doesn’t have enough information about the students’ preferences and views about the cost centers.
“In order to rectify this (lack of information), we should create an ad hoc committee charged with creating and fielding a high-quality survey to actively reflect campus-wide student views towards UCSU and the cost centers,” Bondurant said.
The committee will be formed as soon as possible.
Also in Thursday’s meeting, The Wardenburg Student Health Board announced that the five-kilometer walk they held during parent’s weekend raised approximately $8,400 for their indigent care fund, which finances health care for low-income students.
The health board announced the HPV vaccine, a recent addition to the Women’s Clinic, has become wildly popular with a 55 percent utilization rate by female students covered on the Golden Buff healthcare plan.
The Environmental Board also announced that they have tripled recycling revenues at football games this fall and hope to expand that for the upcoming basketball season.
