Mexican restaurant will not disappoint
If you are looking for large portions of steaming, authentic Mexican food smothered in cheese, you are in luck.
Efrain’s II Mexican Restaurant is not your typical health-food restaurant and you will absolutely not find any alfalfa sprouts on the menu.
The restaurant is complete with big, comfy booths and Jose Cuervo-fashioned decorations. The casual, comfortable decor is perfect for big families, soccer teams or birthday parties. The restaurant is ready for anything.
Located at 63rd and Arapahoe, 1630 N 63rd St., the restaurant is a lengthy drive from campus to the edge of Boulder. The restaurant is always a packed family favorite. Be prepared for a wait without a reservation on a weekend evening.
Service at Efrain’s is aggressive. The servers are fast and always on the move, so do not get in the way.
Once seated, you are instantly served tortilla chips and salsa. They have great service and chips, but the salsa could use a little something. Skip the salsa and wait for the main event — you will need the stomach space.
After waiting about 20 to 30 minutes — you can’t rush genius — the food arrives on steaming hot plates covered in red chili sauce and cheese.
Dining at Efrain’s II, it seems unavoidable that you will:
A. Burn your mouth and
B. Need a doggy bag.
The menu includes tacos, flautas, enchiladas, fajitas, tostadas and tamales. You name it, in Spanish, and they have it.
The homemade chili relleno is definitely worth ordering and filled with cheese and spices.
Efrain’s also has steaks and burgers for the slightly more American-style dinner. The Steak San Lorenzo is cooked in a northern Mexican style. It is saut
