Emergency personnel respond quickly
An 83-year-old woman, whose name has not been released, flipped her car on Ninth Street and Arapahoe Avenue Tuesday at approximately 12:45 p.m. According to police, it caused a 30-minute power outage in downtown Boulder.
“I heard a car go over the curb,” said 20-year-old sophomore business major Eric Williams. He said it hit an electrical box, a telephone pole, and flipped.
Witnesses claimed the woman was reaching into her passenger seat when she hit a curb and then slammed into a power transformer. The accident ended with the woman flipping her car onto its roof in the middle of Ninth Street, where she remained trapped until rescue crews could arrive.
“Police came in a minute,” Williams said.
The woman was taken to the hospital and treated for minor injuries.
