Game access, transportation pass among card’s lesser-known perks
It may look like your typical high school ID, but the Buff OneCard certainly has more perks.
The Buff OneCard gains freshmen access to the dorms and the dining halls — but it also serves as a potential bank card, a pseudo-check card, a calling card and a printing and laundry card through Campus Cash.
Don’t forget — it also gets you into football and basketball games, if you’ve purchased your season tickets.
Students can use their Buff OneCard to open a Buff One Banking account with Elevations Credit Union, which offers access to thousands of ATMs — including many on campus — that accept STAR transactions.
The Alferd Packer Grill, Baby Doe’s, the CU Bookstore — all located in the UMC — and Wardenburg Health Center all accept Buff One Banking. Students should also keep their Buff OneCards handy in the library to check books and cover printing costs.
The Buff OneCard is also a Boulder student’s key to places beyond city-limits. Card-in-hand, students can ride the RTD, the skyRide to Denver International Airport, the Lightrail and the major Boulder busses, the Hop, Skip, Jump, Bound, Stampede and the Leap.
A quick ride on the bus could provide new scenery and options to use the other perk of the Buff OneCard, Boulder Bucks. It’s like a pseudo-check card that is accepted at many restaurants and stores off campus and around Boulder.
Some locations include 7-Eleven, the Spicy Pickle, Conoco Gas at Williams Village, Boulder Baked and Subway on Arapahoe.
For all locations, visit this Web site.
Students gain points for every Boulder Bucks dollar they spend, and those points can eventually be redeemed for prizes. Visit boulderbucks.com for more information.
So ask your parents to fill ‘er up, and don’t just throw it around, the Buff OneCard is more important than you may think. Deposit money to your Buff OneCard at buffonecard.com
