A reality television schmuck is the center of attention
I’m as guilty as anyone when it comes to the “Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County,” and “The Hills” craze. What I don’t get is why Jason Whaler, former boyfriend of Lauren Conrad, the star of both shows, keeps on popping up in the entertainment media, radio shows and even CNN?
This morning, while tuning in to my daily dose of the 107.5 morning show, one of the hot topics of “Kathie J’s Celebrity Trash and Bash” was the Sunday morning arrest of Jason Whaler.
I was confused. For a second I wondered if they were replaying a previously recorded show. I knew I had heard this news before. It’s because this is the ninth time Laguna’s heartbreaker has been arrested this year.
According to KS 107.5 and CNN.com, Whaler allegedly wreaked havoc at the Waterfront Marriot hotel in Seattle. After allegedly trying to punch an officer, Whaler allegedly called him a “nig**r, fag**t, and poor f**k.” Mind you, the officer wasn’t black.
Justin getting arrested is not a big deal. He was also arrested in March. Why do we care? It’s like one of the background zombies in “Grindhouse” getting arrested and making front-page news.
No offense Jason, I mean you’re really attractive, but it doesn’t make you a candidate for celebrity star status.
After hearing about Whaler in my car, he also popped up on my computer at Starbucks. There it was, on the front page of CNN.com. Come on. Save the space for when someone cool gets arrested.
This next part may totally contradict my point, but after riding with Jason in my car and sharing my latte with him, I decided to do some research. I did what any college girl does when trying to find out more about a guy. I googled him.
At first I didn’t take Jason’s MySpace page too seriously because an imposter could’ve made it. Then I realized it wasn’t because why would someone take the time to make a fake page about him? He’s not even an actor.
After reading through a horribly misspelled “About Me” section, I moved on to his pictures. Jason had a slide show “fan” pictures holding up signs of praise. He even asked for more fans to send pictures with signs so that he could post those as well.
Why? I’m still not quite sure.
