Agreement struck to bring Air Force coach to Boulder
The Colorado Springs Gazette and Daily Camera reported today that Air Force head coach Jeff Bzdelik has agreed to become CU’s next basketball coach.
Reportedly, CU offered Bzdelik a five-year deal worth around $800,000 annually. Bzdelik will become the 17th head coach in Buffs’ history after leading the Air Force Academy to a 50-16 record the past two seasons.
The former Air Force coach visited with CU Athletic Director Mike Bohn and university officials throughout the day on Monday. Bzdelik reportedly agreed to the deal either late Monday night or early Tuesday morning.
Bzdelik was the Buffs first choice after former coach Ricardo Patton announced he wouldn’t be returning in October. Bzdelik is the third coach to be hired for football or basketball by Bohn with the other two being Dan Hawkins and Kathy McConnell-Miller. It is expected that the coach will be formally introduced by CU at a press conference on Wednesday.
