A female was able to get away after allegedly being assaulted on the Hill early Sunday morning.
The 20-year-old victim was attacked just after midnight in the 1100 block of University Ave. She told police she was walking alone and was attacked from behind by a male that has yet to be identified.
The victim told police that there was a struggle between herself and the attacker in which she sustained minor scratches on her forearm from a knife that the attacker was allegedly holding. She was able to injure the attacker and run away to call a friend who then alerted police.
Police searched the area where the assault was reported to have occurred and have not yet been able to locate the suspect.
The victim described the suspect as a black male, approximately 24-years-old, weighing about 200 pounds, 5’11 to 6’ tall, and wearing a dark-colored zip-up sweatshirt or jacket.
Police do not know the motive of the attack at this time, but have confirmed that the suspect did not attempt to sexually assault or rob the victim.
