Colorado’s skiers have strong showing at WUG
Members of the CU ski team are showing their stuff overseas.
Senior Katie Hartman won gold in the Super G event Saturday at the World University Games in Erzurum, Turkey. Hartman was one of two top-five finishers representing both Colorado and the United States.
Sophomore Erika Ghent finished in fourth place with a time of 1:11.75, less than a half-second behind Hartman’s winning time of 1:11.26.
The United States team had five skiers in the top 16, including CU freshman Kirsten Cooper in 16th place.
The Buffs had two representatives on Sweden’s team. Senior Carolina Nordh took 39th place, while junior Sara Hjertman did not finish.
Sunday, the men will take to the Super G course. CU senior Gabriel Rivas is seeded 22nd and junior Taggart Spenst is seeded 31st.
